The Dakota Way of Life
"Ella Deloria has given us a precious gift of her herself, her talents, and her intense desire for us to learn from our elders, which means embracing the Dakota way of life. That in turn means a commitment to mutual understanding, mutual enrichment, and mutual respect.
"It is my hope and prayer that The Dakota Way of Life will be, for educators and institutions of higher learning, an essential motivator to build on the literary treasure that has been presented to us by Ella Deloria in such an unselfish manner. At the very least, the material should be required reading.

The History of Independent Baseball Leagues, 1993-2002
Independent baseball has been an important aspect of professional baseball for over a century. This history attempts to document the development of this phenomenon during the past decade.
We have included all available statistics. Both Miles Wolff and myself decided early in our involvement in the rise of this new era of independent baseball to collect and preserve the available statistical records and narratives which document the formal activities of each attempt at creating new independent teams and leagues. Our narrative presents basic documentation of every independent league attempted. This practice has been carried out by publishers of baseball material for the past century. We believe the text fulfills this essential historical documentation.

Oscar Micheaux: A Biography
"Oscar Micheaux (1884-1951), has long deserved a full biographical study. In producing a total of seven novels and over forty films during his long and successful career, his place in history is primarily secure as the first African-American to produce feature-length films.
"Betti VanEpps-Taylor's biography of Micheaux places his life and philosophy in context and provides an objective assessment of his work. Readers who want to understand Micheaux and his important role as author and film-maker will find this intriguing biography the place to begin."

Baseball in the Bad Lands: Stale Beers and Stale Careers
"David Gilbertson, in his first book, has captured with an honest and sincere liking the phenomenon of the Prairie of Professional Baseball. It disbanded after only three seasons, but it was fun while it lasted. Gilbertson's work captures the humor and sadness that engulfs every minor league town. From the disgusting apartment of four single minor leaguers to the fruitless marketing ventures, Gilbertson tells it like it is."
